چکیده

Ossifying fibroma is a rare benign neoplasm that usually affects mandibular and maxillary bones. In this report, we present a case of sinonasal ossifying fibroma with fluid-fluid levels and posterior extension toward the torus tubarius on MR images.

Sinonasal psammomatoid ossifying fibromas: CT and MR manifestations.

Five cases of pathologically proved psammomatoid ossifying fibromas of the sinonasal area are presented. All five cases were examined by CT and in three cases MR imaging was performed before and after injection of gadopentetate dimeglumine. The lesions were located in the sphenoethmoidal area and extended over the nasal cavity or orbit in four cases. In one case, the lesion occurred at the perp...

Ossifying fibroma: an uncommon differential diagnosis for T2-hypointense sinonasal masses

Ossifying fibroma is a benign fibro-osseous lesion that occurs most commonly in the mandible of female patients. In rare cases, it affects the nasal cavity. The magnetic resonance imaging features may vary depending on the amount of fibrous and bony tissue in its composition. In these tumors, T2-hypointensity is a feature described in the peripheral ossified areas of the lesion, but it may pres...

Chondromyxoid Fibroma of the Ethmoid Sinus Complicated by a Brain Abscess

Chondromyxoid fibroma (CMF) is a relatively rare bone tumor that was first described by Jaffe and Lichtenstein in 1948. CMF of the sinonasal tract is very rare. A 28-year-old male presented with long-standing, intermittent, pulsatile pain in the right temporal area. A computed tomography scan showed a 20 × 19 mm round, bony density in the right ethmoid sinus with fluid collection in the ethmoid...

Endonasal endoscopic resection of ossifying fibroma involving the ethmoid sinus, orbit and anterior skull base: case report and literature review

Ossifying fibroma is a benign fibro-osseous tumour that rarely involves the ethmoid sinuses and orbit. It is classified as a benign fibroosseous lesion, a term that is synonymous with a variety of lesions reported in the literature. Recurrence rate with deleterious effects in cases of extramandibular ossifying fibroma is the impetus for open en bloc resection of the tumour. Continuously evolvin...

Cemento-ossifying fibroma presenting as a mass of the parapharyngeal and masticator space.

We report a case of cemento-ossifying fibroma that presented as a large extraosseous mass in the masticator and parapharyngeal space. CT scanning and MR imaging showed a large extraosseous mass with central conglomerated, well-matured ossified nodules and fatty marrow. The central matured ossified nodules were of low density on CT scans and high signal intensity on T1- and T2-weighted MR images...
